Religion: We learn to understand how the Churh carries on Jesus work through the sacraments. We identify the Sacraments of Initiation and the way Jesus is present in the sacraments. We use pages 149-158 in the Religion book.

Reading: The Unit 2 theme is that family and friends help us see the world in many ways. The reading for this week is "Shark." Children learn why sharks are our friends and why we need to keep them from dying out. The Unit 2 test on Friday, 11/20.
Study Skills: We identify the vertical and horizontal axes and use a bar graph to analyze data. We learn to make inferences based on a series of story clues, and identify problems and their solutions.
Spelling Words for the Week: animals, head, river, nets, fin, wave, senses, shark, seals, tide, afraid, danger, lesson, trouble, and understand.
The spelling Pre-test is on Friday, Nov. 16th.
Math: We are learning to identify the value of a group of dimes, nickels,and pennies through 99 cents. We count a collection of coins that includes half-dollars, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies and compare the values of two sets of coins and learn how to make change.
Math. vocabulary: coins, dime, penny, nickel, quarter, and half- dollar.
Phonics: We are learning to recognize and write the high frequency words song, boy, said, girl, something, and people. We use these words to write complete sentences. We also learn to recognize the long vowel sound of "E"spelled "ee and ea ", and apply what they have learned by reading and writing long "E" words.
Social Studies: We are learning to identify and locate geographic features on a physical map, apply knowledge of geographic features in a game, and label a map of North America with physical features and country names.
Social Studies vocabulary: map key, symbol, map grid, compass rose, and map scale.
Science: We learn how living things grow and change. We discuss the life cycle of a bean plant, and how young plants are like their parents. We also discuss how people grow and change, and how people can look different. We are using pages 114-125 in our science book.
Science Vocabulary: seed coat,germinate, and seedling.
